How do we know what our purpose is in life, or even if we have one?

Purpose is elusive and sometimes can not be found even when sought. Purpose is profondly personal and all purpose isn't positive. But those who have a prupose or who declare a purpose and stick to it, live defined lives. Not all people ask such weighty questions of themselves and they go through life with no clue. Those who seek and declare a purpose in life have reasons to get up in the morning and they walk with understanding about meeting goals and objectives. Sometimes people don't recognize thier place or purpose in life until they are in a crisis. Others are born knowing their purpose and seem to go at a rapid pace fulfilling it. These people are like shooting stars. They appear very bright and they tend to burn out quickly. I knew such a person. He was my brother, Robert Burtis Blair, now deceased. A star that burned bright and died at 33 years old.

my purpose is evolving, but I know and have known for some time that it will involve art, and poetry, and music, in perhaps a circle, as that is my shape of choice. And my gifts are those of encouragement and teaching, and I know I am to do both, as they both support each other, the way we support each other. I like the yin and yang of life: male female, black white, and know and know (all definitions of that one word know) that there are no such things as extremes in those areas (or in most areas), but shades of all, tones, harmony, contrast, a blending...and that's what art is about for me. And that's what I believe I can help bring out in others...no right, no wrong, just a being.

I think that your passions are a clue to finding your purpose. I dont mean sexual, I mean the things that you seem to desire even without thinking about it. Like for example, I am always drawn to music and anything medical. I just feel that my purpose will involve those 2. But then my question is....do we just have 1 purpose?
